Ben Affleck’s Batman Gets Classic White Eyes In New Image

Ben Affleck has officially retired his run as the Batman of the DC Extended Universe now that the upcoming film written and directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield; War for the Planet of the Apes) is going to be centered on a younger Bruce Wayne.

Although the Ben Affleck era has come to an end, fans of the Academy Award-winning filmmaker’s portrayal of the Caped Crusader are still celebrating his run in the DCEU with some fan art that incorporates different elements and eras of the character throughout his history in the comic book panels, television shows and big screen outings.

In this fan artwork, we see Ben Affleck alongside Commissioner Gordon (J.K. Simmons) as seen in 2017’s Justice League – his final performance as the hero. Ben Affleck is shown donning a different suit design that also includes the iconic white eyes on his cowl. You can see the artwork of Ben Affleck down below:

In regards to the big screen outings of the Dark Knight, the only time his white eyes were portrayed in live-action form was also with Ben Affleck when they were presented glowing on the cowl of his mech suit that he used to battle Superman (Henry Cavill) with in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight had a visual nod to the glowing eyes when Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne dons a cowl that is using sonar lenses to find the Joker (Heath Ledger).

The white eyes have been traditionally seen in the many comic book incarnations of the character as well as in the numerous animated series and films centered on the World’s Greatest Detective.

Do you think Matt Reeves’ take on the Dark Knight will utilize the iconic white eyes in his cowl? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the project.

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though Matt Reeves is looking to cast a younger Bruce Wayne to replace Ben Affleck and the film will include multiple villains. Matt Reeves also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films.

Matt Reeves’  The Batman is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films. The list also includes a Flash standalone film, Green Lantern CorpsBirds of PreyBlack AdamSuicide Squad 2NightwingSupergirlPlastic Man and New Gods.

The Batman is set to open in theaters on June 25, 2021.
