Ben Affleck Welcomes Matt Reeves To ‘The Batman’

Ah, The Batman. From rumored to confirmed to shut down to still going. The upcoming DC Comics film has had a pretty turbulent start, but with the confirmation of Matt Reeves as director of the picture, a ray of sunlight may finally be upon us. A few weeks ago, Reeves was rumoured to be the front runner for the project after Ben Affleck exited its director’s chair, only to then drop out. However, earlier today, the Dawn of The Planet of The Apes director officially joined the The Batman… for good.

If this confirmation was not enough, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s Ben Affleck took to Twitter to confirm the arrival of Reeves. Affleck stated, “Welcome to the Batcave, @MattReevesLA.” If that is not confirmation, I really do not know what is! In addition to Ben Affleck, DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns also took to Twitter to welcome Reeves.

So, what do you guys think of Reeves joining the DC Extended Universe? If anything, this means Warner Bros. are particularly thrilled with his upcoming Planet of The Apes film, set to bow into theatres on July 14, 2017. Are you excited about Ben Affleck’s Batman standalone? With the announcement of a Nightwing film as well, it looks like there is no way of stopping the DCEU.

The Batman has no scheduled release date.
