Producer Reveals Ben Mendelsohn’s Villainous Role In ‘Captain Marvel’

While Marvel remains coy about Jude Law’s role in the upcoming Captain Marvel film, the producers have opened up about Ben Mendelsohn’s villainous role as the Skrull commander Talos.

During an interview with Comic Book.com, Captain Marvel executive producer Jonathan Schwartz talked about Ben Mendelsohn and what he will be doing in the upcoming film. He discussed the character shapeshifting into different forms and how fun it is to see Mendelshon work as an actor:

Ben kind of plays the face of the Skrulls the leader of the Skrulls and that’s that’s Talos. Over the course of the movie he’ll shapeshift a little bit so we’ll get to see him in human form as we saw in that sizzle. I think it’s sort of fun to show off both the Skrulls powers and Ben’s range as an actor because he’s very different in all of those parts. It’s been super fun to watch.

Ben Mendelsohn is perhaps best known for his work as the main antagonist in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Since appearing in the film, Mendelsohn seemed to have found his place in Hollywood as playing hammy, fun to watch antagonists. And from the sound of things, this character will be no exception to this.

What do you all make of the producer’s comments? Are you looking forward to seeing Ben Mendelsohn in Captain Marvel? Would you prefer that they cast a more subtle actor? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here’s the synopsis for Captain Marvel:
