Benedict Cumberbatch Jokes About Doctor Strange Return In ‘Avengers 4’

Benedict Cumberbatch briefly discussed the return of his character Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers 4. 

When fans were walking into the theater to see Avengers: Infinity War in its opening weekend, there was so much speculation regarding which characters would die in the film. Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) seemed to be at the top of the list of characters who weren’t going to make until the end of Infinity War. In a major turn of events, it ended up being some of the newest, most beloved MCU characters who bit the dust, so to speak.

One of the many characters who died was one of the most important in trying to take down Thanos (Josh Brolin), the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). The actor recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and briefly joked about his return to the MCU in Avengers 4. This is all the actor had to say about his character after the events of Infinity War. 

“I’m dust, baby. I’m just out there. I’m in the ether. I’m probably part of your food chain. I’m in your stomach somewhere.”

When Fallon further questioned the return of Doctor Strange, Cumberbatch remained tight-lipped on the subject. Though there is still no official word yet on whether or not Strange will return for Avengers 4, many fan theories regarding the movie feature him as a key player due to his final lines in Infinity War.
