See Bill Skarsgard As Joker In Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’ Universe

From one clown to another.

A new concept design sees Bill Skarsgard transforming into the Joker for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman universe.

Just like the role of The Batman himself, whenever a new actor for the Joker is announced, audiences are always curious to see what someone may bring in their new iteration of the iconic villain. Actors such as Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix have portrayed the Clown Prince of Crime, and with The Batman on the way, fans are curious to see if Matt Reeves will be bringing the character in to face off against Robert Pattinson.

In a new photoshop design from artist William Gray, Bill Skarsgard is envisioned as the new Joker, as he would potentially look like in the universe of The Batman:

Bill Skarsgard has been a common candidate for the Joker in fan-castings. Most notable for his performance of another evil clown in Pennywise from both It and It: Chapter Two, Bill Skarsgard’s performance was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and his portrayal of one of Stephen King’s most memorable characters became instantly iconic. While some may dismiss Bill Skarsgard as being typecast if he were to play the Joker, he’d certainly bring some great screen presence.

The plot of The Batman is being kept under wraps, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves, the film stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
