Back in Tim Burton’s 1989 comic book film Batman, The Empire Strikes Back actor Billy Dee Williams played the role of Harvey Dent. The character didn’t have much screentime in the film but he was there to set up Billy Dee Williams’ transformation into his live-action portrayal of Two-Face, which never came to fruition. Thanks to a new piece of artwork, fans can finally see how the actor’s version of Two-Face could’ve looked like.
Two-Face did eventually become one of the villains of the franchise in 1995’s Batman Forever, played by Captain America: The First Avenger actor Tommy Lee Jones. In the film, he was also joined by Jim Carrey as the villain Edward Nigma, aka The Riddler. The awesome image comes from artist Dalton Barrett on Instagram and finally gives Billy Dee Williams his due as Harvey Dent’s nefarious alter ego. Check out the impressive artwork in the post below.
Although the actor never played Two-Face in live-action, Billy Dee Williams did have a quick appearance as the character in the 2017 animated film The LEGO Batman Movie, directed by Chris McKay. Hopefully, fans will be able to see the actor return to another iconic role, Lando Calrissian, in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming trilogy-ender Star Wars: Episode IX, though no official return has been announced just yet. The character was most recently seen in last year’s Star Wars spin-off Solo: A Star Wars Story, played by actor Donald Glover.
Although Harvey Dent’s iconic alter ego is one of the most well-known foes in Batman’s Rogues Gallery, the villain has yet to appear in the Fox series Gotham, which is currently airing its fifth and final season. The show has introduced many of the Caped Crusader’s iconic bad guys but Two-Face has yet to make an appearance and as of now, there’s been no announcement of that happening.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the news regarding the future of Batman and the vast pantheon of DC characters as soon as more information becomes available.
