The first look at Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask was revealed in a short video as Birds of Prey principal photography began in LA. Ewan McGregor’s Roman Sionis wasn’t sporting an actual Black Mask in the video and Birds of Prey appears to be aiming for a more realistic tone. This has caused DCEU fans to speculate whether not Ewan McGregor will cover up his face in the film at all. Principal photography in the LA streets has led to new looks at many of the characters in the film except for Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask, but a tease of the film’s villain has now been spotted.
A Black Mask hint was uncovered recently on the DC Cinematic subreddit page, where Black Mask’s Janus Cosmetics company logo was spotted in the background of set pictures. A Janus Corp logo also appeared at the beginning of Justice League, when Batman was tacking down a Parademon in Gotham City. In the Birds of Prey set photos, Harley Quinn appears to be jumping out of a truck heading towards Janus Cosmetics. You can check out the Black Mask connection below:

Full details on the Birds of Prey plot are currently unknown, though the film is said to center on Huntress, Black Canary, and Harley Quinn joining forces to protect Cassandra Cain when she comes into the possession of a diamond belonging to a criminal kingpin known as Black Mask.
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
Birds of Prey will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
