Birds of Prey is easily the most interesting project on DC Films’ roster as the film will introduce a bunch of major DC Comics heroines. During Warner Bros. CinemaCon panel, the studio unveiled some footage from Birds of Prey and it sounds pretty great. You can check out the description below.
“February 7, 2020, Birds of Prey is coming. ‘I love long titles,’ Margot Robbie says in the video. “It’s a girl gang!” Robbie says that Harley is not initially part of the Birds of Prey. The logo flashes across the screen. Promotional footage sees the characters in place. Behind-the-scenes footage sees them filming in an explosive setting. Harley hangs onto a car while roller-blading behind it. Black Mask takes aim with a gun. The group of five women walks toward the camera similar to how Guardians of the Galaxy did in their first trailer.”
The project sees the return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell joining the DC Extended Universe as Huntress and Black Canary, respectively. Ewan McGregor plays the film’s lead bad guy, Black Mask.
Birds of Prey also stars Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain and Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz. Ali Wong, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Matthew Willig and Michael Masini round out the cast.
Margot Robbie is producing Birds of Prey alongside Sue Kroll and Bryan Unkeless. The project centers around the titular team of female heroes and villains based on the DC Comics characters and concepts created by Jordan B. Gorfinkel and Chuck Dixon.
DC’s Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7, 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more updates on the project and the future of the DC Extended Universe.
