DC’s ‘Birds Of Prey’ Movie Finds Its Huntress & Black Canary

DC’s Birds of Prey movie has found its Huntress and Black Canary.

Deadline reports that Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell are joining Margot Robbie in the upcoming DC Comics movie. Winstead has been cast as Huntress while Smollett-Bell is on board as Black Canary.

Cathy Yan is set to direct the movie from a script penned by Bumblebeewriter Christina Hodson. The film is expected to begin shooting early next year for a February 2020 release.

Robbie, who made her DC Extended Universe debut in 2016’s Suicide Squad, is returning as Harley Quinn and is also producing the project alongside Sue Kroll and Bryan Unkeless. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s known that Batman antagonist Black Mask is the film’s villain.

The project centers around the titular team of female heroes and villains based on the DC Comics characters and concepts created by Jordan B. Gorfinkel and Chuck Dixon. Renee Montoya and Cassandra Cain are two other DC characters that are expected to appear in the movie.

Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7, 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more updates on the project and the future of the DC Extended Universe.
