As Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) moves further along into production, we’re getting even more pictures from the set. Already Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn has us infatuated with her outfits which are starting to reveal more about her character in the film. Getting a closer look into a tweet which showed us the most recent BTS pictures, we can actually see that Dr. Quinzel’s got more tattoos and she’s still holding on to her beloved Joker necklace:
If you can remember, the last time we saw Jared Leto’s Joker and Harley Quinn was in the last scene of Suicide Squad, while he was breaking her out of Belle Reve Special Security Barracks. The DCEU is still to tell us what happened with the crazy duo but, according to what we’re seeing in these pictures, their love is still going on strong. It’s more than likely that we’ll hear about the infamous clown in Birds Of Prey. Nonetheless, there’s still no confirmation on Jared Leto reprising his role as the Clown Prince Of Crime in the movie or in any of the following DCEU films.
Full details on the Birds of Prey plot are currently unknown, though the film is said to center on Huntress, Black Canary, and Harley Quinn joining forces to protect Cassandra Cain when she comes into the possession of a diamond belonging to a criminal kingpin known as Black Mask.
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan, McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
The DCEU will continue next with Shazam! which will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019, and will be followed by a standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime set to hit theaters October 4, 2019. The DC movies scheduled for 2020 are Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5.
