According to HN Entertainment, production on the project is aiming to wrap by mid-April. Filming is set to take place in Los Angeles, CA. Robbie will reprise her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn and star in the film alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya.
The cast also includes Ali Wong, Chris Messina, Michael Masini, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Matthew Willig, and Ewan McGregor.
DC Comics’ Birds of Prey are an international crimefighting team featuring heroines such as Oracle (Barbara Gordon), Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) and the Huntress (Helena Bertinelli). The comic book team’s current lineup consists of Black Canary, Huntress, and Lady Blackhawk, along with Hawk and Dove.
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will feature the female superhero team coming together to protect Cassandra Cain after she comes across a diamond which belongs to Gotham crime lord Black Mask, played by McGregor.
Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) is set to direct the film from a script written by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, who has also written the studio’s Batgirl film. Birds of Prey will be produced by Sue Kroll under her Kroll & Co Entertainment banner along with Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, and Robbie.
