‘Her’ & ‘Lost In Translation’ Production Designer Boards ‘Birds Of Prey’

Pardon the pun – actually, don’t — but Birds of Prey is continuing to take flight at a stellar rate. Not just is the cast continuing to expand, but the film has its script, director, fight choreographer, and cinematographer to boot. And now we can add Production Designer to the film’s ever-expanding department as well.

Courtesy of HN Entertainment, it’s been revealed that K.N. Barrett has joined Birds of Prey as the film’s Production Designer, per a hiring decision made by both Warner Bros and director Cathy Yan. Barrett’s prior experience comes from past films such as HerWhere the Wild Things Are, and Lost In Translation, just to name three. What little I’ve personally seen of Her did look impressive from a production standpoint, so between this and everyone else behind the scenes who have boarded the DC film, Birds of Prey is definitely amassing great talent.

Given the accelerated rate at which the film is moving, coupled with its upcoming shooting date, one can easily infer that Birds of Prey is definitely a priority for Warner Bros as far as their upcoming DC films go. While Shazam!Wonder Woman 1984, the Todd Phillips Joker film, The Kitchen, and other future projects like The Flash and The Batman are coming down the pipeline as well, as far as DC-related films are concerned, Birds of Prey looks to be a big deal for the studio.

And coming off the financial success of Suicide Squad, not to mention the reception to Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, how could it not be? But with all of the news and casting announcements that we’ve gotten thus far for Birds of Prey, what are your thoughts on the lead-up to shooting of the film thus far? What do you think of Barrett in particular joining the film? Let us know in the comments below.

Directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey currently stars Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smolett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Ella Jay Basco and Ewan McGregor. The film is set to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.
