Birds of Prey principal photography finally kicked off last week in Los Angeles. In conjunction with the start of filming, Warner Bros. released a short teaser revealing the characters looks in the film. The teaser was probably released to give fans a proper look of the characters before set photos hit the internet.
When the teaser hit, DC fans speculated who the bat-wielding character with the yellow top was. Many assumed it was Harley Quinn, but new Birds of Prey set photos seemingly confirm that it was actually Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary:
Black Canary traditionally sports her famous fishnets in the comics, but it appears Birds of Prey will opt for a more street-level look. Are you a fan of Jurnee Smollett-Bell’s Black Canary look? Do you still think Black Canary will sport a more comic book accurate look in the film? Sound off in the comments below!
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Ali Wong, Robert Catrini, and Michael Masini have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
DC’s Birds of Prey film will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
