From the look of things, the actress is very excited to be a part of the fim.
Ella Jay Basco was cast as Cassandra Cain in the upcoming Birds of Prey film back in November. In the DC comic universe, Cassandra Cain took over the mantle of Batgirl after Barbara Gordon was shot and paralyzed during the events of the Alan Moore comic, Batman: The Killing Joke. She was the daughter of David Cain and Lady Shiva, raised to be an assassin before leaving that lifestyle behind and meeting Bruce Wayne. In the upcoming film, she will reportedly run afoul the Black Mask after obtaining a particular diamond that he wants.
What do you all make of Casandra Cain’s inclusion in the upcoming film? Are you eager to see this version of Batgirl hit the big screen? Would you rather have seen Barbara Gordon take the mantle first? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
DC Comics’ Birds of Prey are an international crimefighting team featuring heroines such as Oracle (Barbara Gordon), Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance) and the Huntress (Helena Bertinelli). The comic book teams current lineup consists of Black Canary, Huntress, and Lady Blackhawk, along with Hawk and Dove.
The film will feature the female superhero team coming together to protect Cassandra Cain after she comes across a diamond which belongs to Gotham crime lord Black Mask, played by McGregor.
Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) is set to direct the film from a script written by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, who has also written the studio’s Batgirl film. Birds of Prey will be produced by Sue Kroll under her Kroll & Co Entertainment banner along with Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, and Margot Robbie.
