Christina Hodson is one of Hollywood’s busiest writers at the moment as she has been involved in two big film projects. Recently, Hodson worked on the well-received film Bumblebee and has an upcoming project with Warner Bros Pictures for a popular crimefighting team, the Birds of Prey. Birds of Prey consists a team of heroines such as Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance), Huntress (Helena Bertinelli), and Oracle (Barbara Gordon). While speaking with Variety, Hodson had this to say about the reactions she’s seen:
“Super mixed, but honestly I don’t have any social media, so I see very little of this stuff. Some people love it, some people think we’re nuts. People will just have to wait and see. I think it’s always hard when you’re doing something bold like that to do it without any context. There’s no marketing yet, we haven’t started shooting. But all things will start to make sense as we get closer and closer to [premiere date] Deb. 7, 2020.”
The film did surprise many with the release of the title, but it seems that those behind the film believe it is just and fans will understand more as to why the film was titled the way they decided to. Perhaps as the film begins filming and more marketing is released fans will understand the style and direction the film will be taking that could fit in with the title.
Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will feature the female superhero team coming together to protect Cassandra Cain after she comes across a diamond which belongs to Gotham crime lord Black Mask, who will be played by Ewan McGregor.
