Shazam! debuted at the worldwide box office with $158 Million and has been praised by audiences as one the most entertaining DC films to date. In response to the critical and financial success of Shazam!, Dwayne Johnson (who co-produced the film through his Seven Bucks Productions studio) posted an Instagram video in which he thanked fans for their support:
“The best part about Shazam! is the audience’s reactions and scores. You, the audience, the people, have given us A’s across the board, around the world. I always say I got one boss and that’s you, the people the audience. And my main object, myself and Seven Bucks Productions, is always to think of audiences first and make sure that you guys are thoroughly entertained. And you are, you were, and again, I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Dwayne Johnson is set to star as Black Adam in a future DC film centered on the classic comic book antagonist. Fans are also expecting Black Adam to go up against Zachary Levi’s hero in a sequel to the Shazam! movie.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
