East Bay Times is reporting that a flashback sequence set during the 1990s was filmed at Oakland, California. The use of an AC Transit bus logo was approved by the agency’s spokesman Robert Lyles. The scene would feature T’Challa during his days as a student at Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkley, California. The use of this bus hints that T’Challa commuted to school as his means of transportation.
According to the report, the film’s crew intend on renting out a vintage bus that is specific to the 1990s in that area – which would be painted with the logo for AC Transit. Production for Black Panther will continue at Atlanta, Georgia where many Marvel films have been shot.
How far do you think this flashback sequence will explore the earlier years of T’Challa? Will we also get a hint at the relationship between him and antagonist Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan)?
