The first trailer for the Marvel flick helped propel it well to the top of the charts, generating 466,000 new conversations. Released during Game 4 of the NBA Finals on June 9, the trailer gave fans their first real look at the film and its cast of characters. The Black Panther trailer was also met with a huge amount of praise from fans, fellow Marvel stars, and even DC big-wigs alike. Black Panther opens in theaters on February 16, 2018.
Black Panther wasn’t the only Marvel film on the list, though. Up next was Spider-Man: Homecoming, which brought in 88,000 new conversations last week, largely thanks to the impeding release date, new TV spots, and teases about Zendaya’s character. The film has now produced a total 1.95 million conversations. Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters July 7, 2017.
Coming in third was Cars 3, with 45,000 new conversations. With the film opening this Friday plus the release of the final trailer, the next Disney-Pixar creation has garnered 423,000 total social media conversations. Cars 3 races into theaters on June 16, 2017.
Transformers: The Last Knight exploded its way (because what else does a Transformers movie do?) to fourth on the heels of a new international trailer and posters. The film created 21,000 new conversations. Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters June 21, 2017.
Last but not least, Star Wars: The Last Jedi scrounged up 13,000 new conversations in the wake of its new UK release date and numerous other Star Wars related announcements and news, from theme parks to videogames to spin-off flicks. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will arrive in our galaxy on December 15, 2017.
