Group Of DC Fans Plan To Sabotage ‘Black Panther’ Rotten Tomatoes Score

Black Panther hasn’t even been released in theaters yet, but a small group of infuriated DC fans have come together in an effort to make sure that the Marvel film receives a low audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

A Facebook group by the name of “Down with Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys” recently created an event on the social media site called “Give Black Panther a Rotten Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes” that currently has 3.7K participants and an additional 1.8K people who are interested in the event.

According to the group’s description of the event, the reason that they want to do this is to get back at Disney for “rigging” positive scores for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, as well as “falsifying bad press” against the DC Extended Universe films on Rotten Tomatoes.

The group has also planned to create similar events for Avengers: Infinity War and upcoming seasons of Marvel’s Netflix shows. They also plan on spreading spoilers in an attempt to ruin future experiences for fans of the Marvel properties.

UPDATE: Rotten Tomatoes has released an official statement on the matter telling TheWrap:

We at Rotten Tomatoes are proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment and we take that responsibility seriously. While we respect our fans’ diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech. Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms and any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible.”

Jordan as Erik Kilmonger, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, and Winston Duke as M’Baku (Man-Ape). In addition, Atandwa Kani has been cast in an unspecified role.

Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2017.
