‘Black Panther’ Was Rotten Tomatoes Best Reviewed 2018 Wide Release

Since its release last spring, Black Panther has brought in a lot of critical acclaim and praise, not the least of which includes its current Tomatometer score of 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. But the Ryan Coogler-directed Marvel Studios now has another win on its belt courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes.

See, Rotten Tomatoes has its “Golden Tomato Awards” that bring together and celebrate the films of the year. For 2018, Black Panther won the Golden Tomato Award not merely for the Best Reviewed Movie of 2018, but the Best Wide-Release of 2018. So chances are that doesn’t factor in smaller releases for flicks like independent films.

Rounding out the top five included Mission: Impossible- FalloutBlackKklansman,  Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and A Star Is Born. Even above other recent Marvel Studios releases like Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man & the WaspBlack Panther remains the king. And coupled with its current award nominations, that train may not stop anytime soon. Well, at least not until the Oscars are over, anyway.

Here’s the original tweet celebrating the Rotten Tomatoes success for Black Panther:

With all of the critical acclaim and impact that the film has made so far, what have been your thoughts on Black Panther since its release last year. What do you think of it winning this award? And do you think that another Marvel Studios picture could possibly top its score? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned for more Black Panther news as awards season continues.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. The film is available now on Digital HD, 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
