See, Rotten Tomatoes has its “Golden Tomato Awards” that bring together and celebrate the films of the year. For 2018, Black Panther won the Golden Tomato Award not merely for the Best Reviewed Movie of 2018, but the Best Wide-Release of 2018. So chances are that doesn’t factor in smaller releases for flicks like independent films.
Rounding out the top five included Mission: Impossible- Fallout, BlackKklansman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and A Star Is Born. Even above other recent Marvel Studios releases like Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man & the Wasp, Black Panther remains the king. And coupled with its current award nominations, that train may not stop anytime soon. Well, at least not until the Oscars are over, anyway.
