Many fans wondered about the fate of Black Panther‘s Shuri (Letitia Wright) after the finale of Avengers: Infinity War, something that was teased in the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Infinity War was filled to the brim with fan-favorite characters from all across the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This was also the case for Black Panther, which opened just a few months before Avengers: Infinity War and also had many fan-favorite characters that some even complained were more interesting than the titular hero himself.
One of Black Panther’s breakout characters Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, appeared in Avengers: Infinity War and studied Vision (Paul Bettany) in Wakanda while some of the other heroes battled Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) goons on the frontlines. Shuri’s fate was left up in the air after the finale of Avengers: Infinity War and a new image from the Avengers: Endgame trailer only adds another layer to the mystery. Check out the moment from the Endgame teaser below.
While some may take this to assume that Shuri is dead, given that it says “Missing” near her name, this may not be the case. As you can see, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a.k.a. Ant-Man, is also pictured next to Shuri with a “Missing” label near him as well. While it’s still possible that Shuri was taken by Thanos’ snap, it’s now just as possible that she’s in hiding or part of some underground group of heroes looking to find a way to fix what happened, as it appears Captain America (Chris Evans) is trying to do with the help of Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Ant-Man.
