Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Widow’ Production Pushed To June

It seems that production for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow has been pushed back according to a recent report from Pursue News.

The Black Widow movie was expected to start filming sometime this month but, according to the report, principal photography will start in the United Kingdom in June and its expected to be finished by September.

This news comes as no surprise at all since Marvel Studios and president Kevin Feige may have a lot on their plate before August. With Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home releasing between March and July, the Disney/FOX merger still wrapping up with no official news of how characters like the X-Men or Deadpool will specifically be handled in the future and no official statements on the line-up for the next MCU movies coming up, Feige and his team could use the time being to sort out how the Black Widow film really fits in their plans.

Even though Marvel fans want the movie to happen, some have already stated that it may be happening a little bit too late. Scarlett Johanson’s Natasha Romanoff has been around since Iron Man 2 secretly working for Tony Stark as a spy for Nicky Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. In Avengers she became part of the team and, since then, her character has evolved from being a reformed assassin to somewhat of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ conscience. Her story arc during these films seems to be explained well enough for her to need a solo movie at this point, but the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame could show us a different and more exciting future for the former spy.

It’s more than likely that the role of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow will be reprised by Scarlett Johansson but there’s still no news on who might star alongside her. The plot of the film hasn’t been revealed yet either although there have been rumors that it will be R rated. Next time we’ll see Natasha Romanoff will be in Avengers: Endgame in April.

Do you think the Black Widow movie is releasing some years too late? Is it necessary at this point? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below!

As soon as we know more about the Black Widow movie we’ll let you know, so stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more!
