From Marvel to Lucasfilm, Disney has major plans for their upcoming streaming service. The Mandalorian will be the first ever live-action Star Wars series, which will premiere alongside the Disney+ launch in November. Diego Luna is also set to reprise his Rogue One role in a Cassian Andor series set before the events of the Episode IV prequel. Star Wars films will go on a three year hiatus after The Rise of Skywalker and Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed at a Tuesday investors call that a third series for Disney+ is in the works:
“…In the interim we are producing two Star Wars live-action series for Disney+: one of them is called ‘The Mandalorian’, which being supervised by Jon Favreau, and the other one is a bit of a prequel to ‘Rogue One’. And my guess is there will probably be at least one more live-action series that we produce for Disney+ (meaning a Star Wars series), before we release the next film.”
What do you think the third series will be about? Comment below!
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.
The Mandalorian will be available November 12, 2019 on Disney+.
