‘Breaking Bad’: Bryan Cranston Would Love To Play Walter White In New Film

It was recently announced that Vince Gilligan was developing a brand new film set in the Breaking Bad canon. Earlier today, it was reported that the film would take place after the series finale, “Felina” and would follow Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) after he is freed by Walter White (Bryan Cranston).

Given the events that transpired in the Breaking Bad series finale, to see Bryan Cranston reprise his role as Walter White would be an interesting thing to see. For one, the beloved protagonist on one of the most critically-acclaimed shows in the history of television had his arc come to a definitive end and it would be a huge stretch if he somehow returned in some contrived way.

However, Bryan Cranston revealed that he would love to reprise his role in the Breaking Bad film – especially with Vince Gilligan at the helm:

“Yes, there appears to be a movie version of Breaking Bad. But I honestly have not even read the script. So I couldn’t tell you… If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, sure, absolutely. He’s a genius.”

Breaking Bad ran on AMC from 2008 to 2013 for a total of five seasons. The series is widely considered to be one of the greatest in the history of television, and Walter White is widely considered to be one of the greatest characters of all-time as well. Cranston’s performance on the series earned him 4 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The series’ success spawned an acclaimed spinoff, Better Call Saul, which stars Bob Odenkirk reprising his role as Saul Goodman and takes place years before he gets involved in the chaos that is Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s lives.
