News broke yesterday that series creator Vince Gilligan is writing and executive producing a Breaking Bad movie. The movie may also air on AMC, like the newly announced Walking Dead films featuring Rick Grimes. Filming is expected to start filming in New Mexico this month and Slashfilm is now reporting the Breaking Bad movie will follow Jesse Pinkman after the events of the series finale with Paul set to return.
Meanwhile, Bryan Cranston confirmed the news of a Breaking Bad film on the Dan Patrick Show, however, the actor is unsure if he will reprise his role as Walter White and admitted he hasn’t even read a script:
“There appears to be a movie version of Breaking Bad, but I honestly have not even read the script… I have not gotten the script, I have not read the script. So there’s question of whether or not we will even see Walter White in this movie.”
Cranston went on to say he would love to reprise his role as Walter White and teased the film may finish the storylines of other characters:
“I would, I would. Absolutely. If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, sure, absolutely. He’s a genius, and it’s a great story. And there’s a lot of people who felt that they wanted to see some kind of completion to some of these storylines that were left open. And this idea, from what I’m told, gets into those, at least, a couple of the characters who were not completed as far as their journey.”

Breaking Bad aired on AMC from 2008 to 2013 and tells the story of Walter White over five seasons. White is a chemistry teacher who turns to a life of crime after he is diagnosed with cancer. The series was created by Gilligan and starred Cranston, Paul, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Betsy Brandt, RJ Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Giancarlo Esposito, Jonathan Banks, Laura Fraser, and Jesse Plemons. The series garnered much acclaim during its run which included 16 Primetime Emmy Awards and 58 nominations. The series also launched the prequel spin-off series, Better Call Saul, which stars Odenkirk, Esposito, and Binks.
There is no release date set for the Breaking Bad movie at this time.
