Breaking Bad alumn Jonathan Banks confirmed he will reprise his role as Mike Ehrmantraut opposite Aaron Paul in Netflix’s El Camino.
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan will finally address the fate of Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman in a new Netflix film titled El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. While the film is set after the events of the Breaking Bad series finale, it is said to feature multiple returning cast members and Jonathan Banks confirmed he will be among those reprising his role opposite Aaron Paul.
Jonathan Banks made his debut as a former police officer turned hitman Mike Ehrmantraut in the second season of Breaking Bad and continued with the series until the fifth season when his character was killed by meth kingpin Walter White. Despite Mike Ehrmantraut’s fate, Jonathan Banks confirmed to ET Canada that he will return for Aaron Paul’s El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie:
“Yes. […] You know, and I’ll get — they’ll hit me in the head for saying this, but yes, why not? I mean, none of those guys hit very hard anyway [laughs].”
Considering the character’s passing, Jonathan Banks is expected to appear in flashbacks for his return El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. Jonathan Banks currently portrays Mike Ehrmantraut on Better Call Saul, a prequel centered on Walter White’s future attourney Saul Goodman.
Here is Netflix’s official synopsis for Aaron Paul’s El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie:
In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.” “Breaking Bad” showrunner Vince Gilligan wrote and directed the movie, which brings back familiar faces from the show’s universe such as Jesse’s friends Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) and Badger (Matt L. Jones).
Written and directed by Vince Gilligan, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie stars Aaron Paul, Charles Baker, Matt Jones, and Jonathan Banks. The film is said to feature appearances by more than 10 characters from Breaking Bad.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will be released on Netflix on October 11 before airing on AMC.
