‘Avengers’ Comic Calls Out Brie Larson’s ‘Captain Marvel’ Movie Trolls

A band new Avengers comic has called out Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel trolls with a hilarious callback.

Despite Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel being a critical beast and financial champion, there were a bevy of trolls who honed in on any flaw they could exploit. One of the most memorable complaints certain trolls had was how Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel wasn’t smiling on the film’s poster. Clearly a dig at how women are always expected to smile, the Captain Marvel star fired back with a series of photoshopped posters featuring her Avengers co-stars smiling, proving how toxic the double standard is. Now, an Avengers comic has memorialized Brie Larson’s silencing of the trolls.

In Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness’s Avengers #29, Captain Marvel calls back to the inherent importance in one’s smile. In the Avengers comic, Captain Marvel is going toe to toe against the Herald of Galactus. The villain makes a point to say that Captain Marvel is way out of her depth and should retreat. Recharging herself, Captain Marvel aims a punch at the Herald of Galactus while saying “Why don’t you tell me to smile more while I’m at it, Firelord?” The Herald of Galactus responds with, “Actually that wouldn’t be such a bad-” before getting punched in the face by Captain Marvel.

The photoshopped images shared by Brie Larson featured Avengers members Iron Man, Captain America, and Doctor Strange, who were never told by vitriolic trolls to smile more. Now that Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel are both out, Brie Larson haters have no choice but to recognize her as the future of Marvel as both of those films were critical and commercial sucesses.
