Brie Larson On Why It’s Important To Get ‘Captain Marvel’ Right

Next year, Captain Marvel will make her live-action feature film debut with Academy Award winner Brie Larson playing the titular heroine. With the film being the first female led entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are excited to finally see the beloved character realized on the big screen. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Larson discussed why it is important to get the character right for her first cinematic appearance.

Brie Larson commented on the response to the Captain Marvel news and explained that it was important to get the character right because she means so much to many fans:

“It feels like such a weight off my shoulders because I really don’t like keeping secrets, and the response was really positive, and that felt really cool. I mean, making movies is hard, and making films of that size is even harder. It requires so much physically, and it’s a lot longer shoot, and there’s also the pressure because this is a character that is incredibly inspiring to people and means a lot. So you just want to get it right. I feel really excited about how everything is shaping up.”

Few details on the plot for Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel are currently known, though it was recently revealed that the film will be set in the 90s and will introduce the Skrulls to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck with a script written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Oscar nominee Meg LeFauve (Inside Out). The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
