Brie Larson’s ‘Captain Marvel’ Sequel Set For Summer 2022 Release Date

Disney has scheduled Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel 2 for a summer 2022 release date.

After being teased in the post-credits scene of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, Brie Larson made her first appearance as Carol Danvers in 2019’s Captain Marvel. The film was well-received by moviegoers and proved to be a record-breaking box office hit, earning over $1 billion worldwide.

While Brie Larson reprised her role in Avengers: Endgame, fans have been eager to see the iconic heroine return for a sequel to her own standalone adventure and now Disney has set a release date for the long-awaited follow-up. Today, the company announced release dates for several projects and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel sequel is due to hit theaters on July 8, 2022.

Here is the official synopsis for the first Captain Marvel:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
