During the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and women of Marvel briefly joined forces to take on Thanos’ army. While the scene received mixed responses from audiences, for some it only increased the already strong desire to see Kevin Feige produce an Avengers film centered on the women of the MCU.
During an interview with Variety, Brie Larson noted that the women of Marvel have let Kevin Feige know that they want to work on a female Avengers together. While Brie Larson added that she does not know if this will lead to anything, she believes if enough fans ask Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios, a female Avengers film could be a possibility:
“I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ‘We are in this together, we want to do this.’ What that means, I have no idea. You know, I’m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we’re really passionate about and we love and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it’ll happen.”
While Kevin Feige did not announce a female Avengers film as part of Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 slate, Brie Larson is set to reprise her role as Carol Danvers in a Captain Marvel sequel. Details on the film are unknown, though it’s absence from Kevin Feige’s Phase 4 line-up announcement indicates the Brie Larson film will be part of Marvel Studio’s fifth wave.
