Brie Larson’s Surprising Reaction To ‘Captain Marvel’ Casting Rumors

With the breaking news that Oscar Winning actress Brie Larson is being sought for Marvel’s upcoming ‘Captain Marvel’ film, it seems that everyone is talking about the casting. But contrary to what everyone may realize, it seems the actress didn’t know who the character was until possibly recently.

In an interview with MTV back in 2015, the actress was asked regarding the original rumors that she was being considered for the role, and to the interviewers surprise, she revealed exactly how much she knew about Captain Marvel.

Following the initial statement and question regarding the rumor, the actress replied:

“Isn’t that a boy?”

After the initial confusion, she went on to say:

“The first female, so would I be playing a man? (laughs), I was like this is interesting, I’m kind of into it. I thought I was always forever going to be stuck playing female roles but, I’m down to play Chris Evans. No, wait, Chris Evans is Captain America. Who’s Captain Marvel?”

“I have no idea what I’m talking about, great, but people want me to this? Okay, good to know. I guess I’ve got to start reading the comic book.”

If the rumors are true, it sounds like Larson may already have the role so I definitely hope she did start reading the comic and did her homework.

Captain Marvel is currently scheduled for a March 8, 2019 release date.
