Brie Larson Doesn’t Care About Toxic Fandom Around ‘Captain Marvel’

Captain Marvel star Brie Larson explained that she simply doesn’t have time for the toxic fandom that tried to tank the blockbuster.

Brie Larson recently addressed the toxic fandom that surrounded Captain Marvel and explained she wasn’t bothered by the minority of fans who intentionally tried to hurt the film simply because it was a superhero blockbuster led by a woman. Marvel fans will remember that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel used empowering feminist themes to raise Carol Danvers up next to other legendary heroes in the franchise.

When Variety recently Brie Larson what she thought of the toxic fandom surrounding Captain Marvel, the actress explained that she doesn’t have time for it and that it isn’t a priority in her life. It’ll be interesting to see whether the same attitudes from fans towards Captain Marvel appears again when work on the sequel begins. “I don’t have time for it, you know? The things that I have extra time to really look at are, like: Am I eating healthy food? Am I drinking water? Am I meditating? Have I called my mom today? More recently, I guess maybe it’s because of Captain Marvel, I’ve had a lot of journalists be, like, ‘How often do Google yourself?’ I’m, like, “I’ve never Googled myself.”
