Bruce Campbell Wants A Villain Role In ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Bruce Campbell joked on Twitter about playing a villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

After the recent news that Sam Raimi is confirmed to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, his long-time collaborator Bruce Campbell tweeted about appearing in the sequel as a villain. The pair have worked together since It’s Murder! in 1977 and some fans will remember the star’s cameos throughout Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Campbell also notably appeared in the director’s legendary horror series Evil Dead as Ash Williams.

The Evil Dead star joked on Twitter that there must be a character to go up against Doctor Strange in the sequel. Fans on Twitter took this in a number of ways, some suggested that Campbell could be a great fit for over-the-top Marvel villains like Mephisto or Nightmare. Others joked that Ash Williams could fall through a portal with Doctor Strange helping him fight the Deadites from Evil Dead. Even if Campbell doesn’t get a villain role in the sequel, it would be great to at least see a cameo from the star to keep up the long-running collaboration.

Details on The Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to feature horror elements. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the sequel.

Scott Derrickson is still attached to The Multiverse of Madness as an executive producer, with Sam Raimi in talks to direct from a script written by Michael Waldron. The sequel will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, and Elizabeth Olsen.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 5, 2021.
