Bruce Lee’s Daughter Upset By His Portrayal In ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

During an interview with The Wrap, Bruce Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, discussed why she is upset by her father’s portrayal in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

In Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, actor Mike Moh portrays renowned Hong Kong-America actor and filmmaker Bruce Lee. While many movigoers point to the showdown between Bruce Lee and Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth as one of the most memorable scenes in the film, Shannon Lee explained why she was disheartened by how her father is portrayed during the scene:

“[…] it doesn’t come across that way. He comes across as an arrogant asshole who was full of hot air. And not someone who had to fight triple as hard as any of those people did to accomplish what was naturally given to so many others.”

After discussing how she felt uncomfortable sitting in a theater and listening to audiences laugh at her father, Shannon Lee noted that Quentin Tarantino’s depiction of Bruce Lee in the scene is not an accurate portrayal of who he really was:

“Here, he’s the one with all the puffery and he’s the one challenging Brad Pitt. Which is not how he was.”
