Bryan Singer Confirms ‘Legion’ Being Part Of X-Men Cinematic Universe

As the X-Men is expanding on the big screen, they are now going to be invading the world of television with the upcoming FX series, Legion, starring Dan Stevens as David Haller. There have been some back-and-forth on the subject of whether Legion exists within the cinematic universe of the X-Men.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan Singer, who has directed several of the X-Men films and is an executive producer on Legion, set the record straight as the show is in fact part of the same universe of the films.

“[Legion is] part of the X-Men universe, but when you watch it, you wouldn’t have to label it, it could exist entirely on its own.”

“Legion” introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.”

FX’s Legion, starring Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Katie Aselton and Bill Irwin, premieres in early 2017.
