Bryan Singer Wants A Solo Movie For Mystique With Jennifer Lawrence

While X-Men: Apocalypse has just arrived in theaters, the future of the X-Men universe is still developing. One of the main questions surrounding X-Men is if Jennifer Lawrence will be returning as Mystique/Raven. Apocalypse director Bryan Singer would love to see a Mystique solo movie go into development.

While speaking on Empire podcast that he is often asked about this solo movie possibility.

“People have asked if I’d do a stand-alone [movie about Mystique]. I think she’s right. . . . She has that view of the world.”

Screenwriter Simon Kinberg echoed the same thoughts back in 2014 while promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past .

“I love what Jen Lawrence has done with Mystique, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo.”

The X-Men universe as a whole has been incredibly successful at the box office. Apocalypse has already earned $65 million for the three-day weekend. When the four-day gross is added in, the film will be coming in at a reported $80 million from 4,150 theaters.

Even with these numbers, Apocalypse won’t be beating out its other X-Men competition. Memorial Day weekend has been popular for X-Men. 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand made $122.9M and X-Men: Days of Future Past earned $110.6M.

X-Men: Apocalypse is now in theaters!

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
