‘Avatar’: C. C. H. Pounder Returning For The Sequels

C. C. H. Pounder is returning to the expanding cast of James Cameron‘s four Avatar sequels.

Deadline has confirmed that Pounder will be returning to portray Mo’at, the Na’vi shamaness, in the four Avatar sequels. When last we saw Mo’at, she was seen moving the consciousness of Jake Sully from his human body into his Avatar, permanently turning him into his human-alien hybrid form as was his will. How she’ll be important for four other movies (said to be four unrelated standalones that collectively form a greater saga between the relationship between the human and Na’vi species) will be unclear at this time, but given her role in the first one, it’s likely that she’ll be there to help explain the spirituality of the Na’vi species.

The movies will finally start filming in Autumn of this year and will be released over the course of the 2020s. Just to put the long wait between the Avatar sequels into context, by the time Avatar 2 is finally released, the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy will have been announced and completed with 2-3 spin-offs released, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will have completed 3 Phases and will begin work on what comes after that, Spider-Man will have been rebooted twice, the DC Extended Universe will have released several films, the Harry Potter franchise will have finished and moved on to Fantastic Beasts spin-offs, and The Fast and the Furious will have exponentially grown in popularity, just to name a few. The James Cameron sequel certainly has a lot to live up to.

Four Avatar sequels are planned for release in the Decembers of 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025. Avatar 2‘s cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, C. C. H. Pounder, and newcomers Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin.
