Cailee Spaeny Cast As Female Lead In ‘Pacific Rim 2’

Pacific Rim 2 has found its female lead. According to Variety, newcomer Cailee Spaeny (Counting to 1000) has joined the cast of the project in a key role. However, there are currently no details about her character.

The actress joins John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad). The film will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight, who’s best known for his work on Spartacus and Marvel’s Daredevil. Production is set to begin this November in Australia, but a portion of the film will also be shot in China.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we know that Boyega’s character will be the son of Stacker Pentecost, who died towards the end of the first movie. Pentecost was played by Idris Elba, who will next be seen in The Dark Tower.
