The idea of doing a show based in Gotham City about Jim Gordon’s rise in the police force was something very different for a DC adaptation at the time. When fans began to fall in love with characters like The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Batman’s rogue’s gallery began being woven into the series’ DNA. Fans have even seen young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) dress up in a proto-Batman suit but according to another actor from the series, Batman will be appearing in the upcoming final season.
Many fans have wondered if the caped crusader would make an appearance on the show before its end and according to actor Cameron Monaghan, he will. Monaghan plays Jerome on the series, essentially Gotham‘s version of a young Joker, and he was recently asked via Twitter whether or not Batman would show up on the show. The actor’s very simple response may take some fans by surprise, check it out below.
Now, although it’s been confirmed that Batman will appear on Gotham’s final season, there’s still no telling how big of a role he’ll play. This could be flashforwards we cut to throughout episodes, it could be a brief cameo at the end like Smallville, but one thing is for sure and that’s Gotham‘s ability to stay true to their characters while also doing something very fresh with them.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Gotham as soon as more information becomes available. Are you happy to hear that Batman will be making an appearance in the series? With Gotham on the brink of total anarchy and cut off from the outside world, only Jim Gordon, Bruce Wayne and a handful of heroes remain behind to retake the city. Inspired by the “No Man’s Land” arc from the comics, villains including Penguin, the Riddler, the Sirens and Jeremiah have taken claim on various regions of the city. Will order be restored, or will chaos reign in Gotham?
The series stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, and Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox.
Gotham season 5 will premiere on January 3, 2019, on Fox.
