The 21st film in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe Captain Marvel has hit another milestone this weekend, passing $900 million at the worldwide box office with a gross of $52.1 million over its third weekend to land at a total of $910.3 million.
Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel has now surpassed Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman making it the 10th international box office superhero film. This is another demonstration that female-led superhero films can fly higher, further, faster than their male counterparts and it’s truly something to celebrate.

Captain Marvel features Brie Larson as the titular superhero in an origin story for Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, a test pilot in the comics who gained super strength and the ability to fly after being caught in an explosion with a Kree device.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg and Jude Law. The film is now playing.
Following her debut in her titular standalone film, Brie Larson will return to face Thanos in April when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019, however, it remains unclear as to whether or not Samuel L Jackson will appear.
Plot details are still under wraps but the Avengers are expected to team up with Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and attempt to undo Thanos’ snap which gave way to the decimation of half of the Universe after the heroes failed to stop the Mad Titan from collecting all six Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War. The highly-anticipated Avengers: Infinity War follow-up will conclude the previous 22 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before Marvel kicks off Phase 4 with Spider-Man: Far From Home in July.
