Alternate ‘Captain Marvel’ Pager Design From ‘Infinity War’ Revealed

Just as Nick Fury and Maria Hill were snapped into nothingness in Avengers: Infinity War, Fury had a chance to send off a signal to parts unknown. Well, I say parts unknown, but we know it’s for Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, who is set to make her debut next year in her standalone Captain Marvel film before appearing in Avengers: Untitled. And yes, I’m sticking with that until the title of the fourth Avengers is actually revealed. Between Infinity War and the trailer for Captain Marvel itself, we’ve seen different designs of Fury’s pager.

And Nick Fury being who he is, of course he’d still be one of the few people in this day and age who has or uses a pager. But now we have a look at a different design thanks to one concept designer. Fausto De Martini, a concept designer at Lightstorm Entertainment, shared a photo on his Instagram page that shows an alternate design for the Captain Marvel pager used at the end of Infinity War. And it turns out that the finalized version that we saw in Avengers: Infinity War was done by a different artist.

Here, have a look at the early concept design.

Now it just remains to be seen how and when Danvers will receive the transmission to come and help Earth in the battle against Thanos. Perhaps in a post-credits scene for Captain Marvel or a teaser in there that sets up Avengers: Untitled, similar to the teaser for The Avengers at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger? Time will tell on that one. What do you think of this alternate design, though? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

The film will fly into theaters on March 8, 2019.
