Brie Larson’s ‘Captain Marvel’ Being Bombed By Trolls On Rotten Tomatoes

Captain Marvel is currently being subjected to negative audiences reviews on Rotten Tomatoes despite the Brie Larson film being two weeks away from hitting theaters.

The first reactions to Captain Marvel are currently set to be revealed tonight, but internet users are already posting negative reviews of the highly-anticipated film on Rotten Tomatoes that are primarily complaining about it being centered around a female hero. Because Captain Marvel is still two weeks away from debuting in theaters, the sexist reviews are largely criticizing lead actress Brie Larson’s call for more diversity of the press tour and her campaign to send underprivileged girls to see the film rather than the quality of the film itself. Some reviewers are even labeling the film as a “social justice warrior” movie, not unlike the false reviews that were posted for Black Panther before the Ryan Coogler film debuted to record-breaking box office success and acclaim.

Unfortunately, this effort to lambaste a movie before it is released in theaters over complaints about diversity in films is becoming a common trend, but true fans who are excited to see Brie Larson bring Carol Danvers to life will soon be able to judge for themselves.

Mississipi Grind helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing from a script written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve. Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg and Jude Law. The film is slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.

Following her debut in her titular standalone film, Brie Larson will return to face Thanos in April when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.

“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we learn it.
