‘Captain Marvel’ Toy Listing May Have Spoiled A Surprise Appearance

The unfortunate side-effect of toy promotion alongside or before an upcoming movie is they have the tendency to possibly give away possibly spoilers. This isn’t always the case, but something as minor as a character description will get fans buzzing and speculating about what’s to come. Case in point, Captain Marvel. Observe.

Shop Disney has a description of a character from the upcoming Captain Marvel film with a description that reads as follows: “Born of a Titanian Eternal, Genis-Vell possesses indomitable strength and uses powerful Nega-Bands to channel incredible energy blasts!” Now Genis-Vell is a hero-turned-villain in Marvel Comics lore. Though there’s been no indication in the past of whether he would appear, this toy description does seem to hint at his appearance. Here’s the tweet that caught the description:

Now Disney could always go back and omit this in order to keep folks from guessing. It wouldn’t be the first time that this has been done for something Captain Marvel-related. As you’ll recall, at one point their site did indeed list Jude Law as Mar-Vell in a description. That’s not there anymore. I wonder why.

Regardless, what do you think of this potential news? Could this mean that Genis-Vell will indeed appear in the upcoming Marvel Studios picture? Is this just for promotional purposes? Plus, if this is indeed legit, do you think that Disney will go back and change the description, as was done with Jude Law’s character in the past? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel will fly into theaters on March 8, 2019.
