‘Captain Marvel’ Tie-In Officially Reveals Jude Law’s Role

Captain Marvel tie-in book has confirmed that Jude Law will be playing the character Yon-Rogg.

Captain Marvel hits theaters in a few weeks and one of its best-kept secrets so far has been the role that Jude Law will be playing. The footage shown from the film so far has featured Jude Law’s character acting as a mentor to Brie Larson’s character Carol Danvers, as well as the leader of the Kree military squad known as Starforce. Marvel recently published a book focusing on the team titled Starforce on the Rise, written by Steve Behling, and it finally reveals who the Sherlock Holmes star will be playing.

ScreenRant has reported that the Captain Marvel tie-in book reveals the identity of Jude Law’s character to be Yon-Rogg. Fans of the Marvel comics might remember that Yon-Rogg has an interesting history with both Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, as well as returning Marvel Cinematic Universe villain Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), who was previously seen and defeated in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy but will make his return in the nineties-set origin story

One of the popular theories for months was that Jude Law will play Mar-Vell in the film but that won’t be the case, so the classic Captain Marvel could still potentially show up on the big screen somewhere in the future. Since the next phase of the MCU is still mostly a mystery, there’s no telling where the iconic character could make his debut.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Captain Marvel as soon as more information becomes available. How big of a role do you think Yon-Rogg will play in the film? Are you excited to hear that this is who Jude Law is playing or do you wish he was playing a different MCU character? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
