Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel star Brie Larson shares her thoughts on her fellow female-led superhero solo film from DC, Wonder Woman.
In a recent interview with USA Today, future Captain Marvel star Brie Larson was asked for her reaction to Wonder Woman, to which she stated:
“I sobbed, like, seven times. It just felt really important. It felt like something I hadn’t seen.”
Last week, when Larson was asked about the added pressure a film like Captain Marvel faces, she responded:
“Why is there pressure? I don’t understand why there’s pressure put on women as if it’s the most shocking concept ever that a woman can open a movie — it’s like, it’s kind of a tired concept. We’ve proven it for a long time, so I don’t put pressure on in that way at all.”
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, Lucy Davis as Etta Candy, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru/Doctor Poison, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer and Eugene Brave Rock as the Chief. Here is the official synopsis for the film:
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers… and her true destiny.
Captain Marvel is slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2019. Wonder Woman is in theaters now.
