‘Captain Marvel’ Sequel In Development With ‘WandaVision‘ Scribe

A Captain Marvel sequel is officially in the works with WandaVision scribe Megan McDonell.

After grossing over $1B at the box office, a sequel to Captain Marvel is officially in the works. The film will likely be set in 2023 and Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will not return to the director’s chair. Marvel Studios is currently looking for a female director to take the helm as WandaVision scribe Megan McDonell is hard at work on the script.

McDonell moving from WandaVision to a Captain Marvel sequel must mean that she’s a tremendous talent and that the episodes she’s written are really good. Boden and Fleck will stay in the Marvel Studios family as they’re expected to direct a series for Disney+. The Captain Marvel sequel is expected to be released in 2022 with Brie Larson reprising her role.

The first Captain Marvel featured Brie Larson as the titular superhero in an origin story for Carol Danvers, a test pilot in the comics who gained super strength and the ability to fly after being caught in an explosion with a Kree device.

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg and Jude Law.

Captain Marvel is currently available on Blu-Ray and Digital Download.
