A new report has revealed that Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher passed away after suffering cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning.
According to the report, Fisher was placed on a ventilator as soon as she arrived at UCLA Medical Center after suffering what their sources now believe to be cardiac arrest while on board a flight from London heading to Los Angeles.
The site adds that Fisher’s family was talking about removing her from life support after there were no signs of her condition improving, but Fisher’s heart stopped beating on its own this morning.
Many fans and some of Fisher’s closest friends are mourning the death of the Star Wars icon. The actress had been on a tour promoting her latest book, “The Princess Diarist.”
Fisher’s death was confirmed by family spokesman Simon Halls, who released the following statement on behalf of her daughter, Billie Lourd:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.“
Fisher was most recently seen returning to the role of Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Her character will also appear in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII, which wrapped back in July and hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
