Carrie Fisher Had Completed Filming On ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’

While the world mourns the loss of Carrie Fisher, one fact remains, she was working on Star Wars: Episode VIII. An official from Lucasfilm spoke with TMZ and said that Fisher was “absolutely wrapped” on the project.

Carrie Fisher has died at the age of 60. Fisher was best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise. She was only 19 years old when she joined the cast of Star Wars: A New Hope. Ever since, Fisher had become an icon of the entertainment community.

Carrie Fisher suffered a massive heart attack while on board a flight from London heading to Los Angeles. Family spokesman Simon Halls released the following statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter (via People):

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.“

According to the official Star Wars Twitter, production on the project wrapped back in July. At this point, it’s not clear if Carrie Fisher was going to be involved in the next film in this new trilogy.
