Brand New ‘Cars 3’ Image Features Lightning McQueen & Cruz Ramirez

A brand new image from the upcoming Disney & Pixar Animation Studios film 'Cars 3' has been released, featuring Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez.

All the promotional material for Disney and Pixar’s upcoming sequel Cars 3 has showcased that the storytellers at Pixar Animation Studios have decided to shift their focus back on the journey of Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson). After experiencing their first critical bust with Cars 2, putting Lightning back in the focus instead of Mater’s (Larry the Cable Guy) espionage shenanigans.

The sequel finds Lightning in a crisis that threatens to put him into retirement after all the years of glory on the racetrack. Thankfully, a new friend by the name of Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonz0) comes by his side to help him retain his former glory.

Yahoo! Movies exclusively released a new photo from Cars 3. The image depicts Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez seemingly drifting together on the sands of a beach. You can see the image down below.

Here’s the synopsis for Cars 3:

After being trounced in a race by upstart newcomer Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer), everyone begins to wonder if Lighting McQueen (Owen Wilson) should retire. But Lightning isn’t ready to throw in the towel yet, and with the help of another rookie – Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) – the old dog is going to learn some new tricks and attempt a comeback in the Florida 500.

Directed by Brian Fee and featuring the voice talents of Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Armie Hammer, Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, Jenifer Lewis, John Ratzenberger, Lloyd Sherr, Michael Wallis, Paul Dooley, Kerry Washington, Nathan Fillion and Lee DeLaria, Cars 3 races into theaters on June 16, 2017.
