Disney Pixar has just released a "Next Generation" extended look at the upcoming third outing in the Cars franchise, Cars 3.
The third outing in the Cars franchise has yet to receive an official trailer. Up until now, there have only been teaser trailers but Disney Pixar has just released a “Next Generation” extended look for the upcoming film.
An official synopsis has yet to be released but we do know Cars 3 will be a bit of a course correction for the franchise after the disappointing Cars 2. With Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) getting older, Cars 3 will have Lightning coming to terms with his own mortality.
The third chapter will introduce new blood into the franchise with Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer), a faster, sleeker millennial hotshot villain born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The film will also introduce Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo), a young Latino female racer who is a lifelong fan of Lightning’s. Cruz hopes to redeem entitled millennials everywhere as she helps rejuvenate Lightning’s competitive spirit. The film has been described as the most emotional one yet by Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter while director Brian Fee calls it the “most human” of the franchise.
You can watch the extended look below.
The film also stars Bonnie Hunt, Tony Shalhoub, Katherine Helmond, Cheech Marin, Paul Dooley, and Larry the Cable Guy.
Cars 3 hits theaters on June 16, 2017.
